Suriena wins Pub Idol final place

Tuesday, September 16, 2008, 07:20

DANCING Queen Suriena brought a smile to the judges' faces last night at the seventh round of our Pub Idol competition.

The 34-year-old sang the Abba classic as part of her sparkling set at Cleethorpes' Bar Babylon, before stealing the show and making off with a place in the final.

Also singing Whitney Houston's Saving All My Love For You, Suriena Dais-Dean, of Grimsby's Westville Road, joins our other Pub Idol winners Yasmin Ellis, Tony Clark, Ebony Reeve, Fiona Beasley, Rachel Harrington and Chris Thorpe – plus wildcards Michael Ray and Martin Cole – in the final.

Hosted by The Submarine, in Cleethorpes, in October, the overall winner will scoop the £500 cash prize and be crowned our Pub Idol of 2008.

Don't miss heat eight of the competition, which takes place at The Bank, in Grimsby, on September 17.

To read a full interview with last night's winner, see today's Grimsby Telegraph.

Also, be sure to catch all the performances at www.thisisgrimsby.co.uk/pubidol.

The five contestants from heat seven of Pub Idol held at Bar Babylon are (from left) Roxanne McKerracher, Eloise Svendsen, Suriena, Craig Hickson and Mark Stoneman.
