Not only have previous contestants raised the musical bar each week, but this week’s guest judge describes himself as “quite a strong critic”.
Former Junior Search For A Star judge Tony Morley will join resident judges Pete Dixey, representing Pub Idol sponsor Poole’s Music, and musical theatre guru Emma McCutcheon at the table – and said he will be looking for the double Pub Idol whammy of “performance and personality”.
“That has to shine through,” he said.
One half of popular musical duo Lewis and Kirk, Tony is taking time out from preparations for a big show for Caxtons in December to judge the ninth and final heat of this year’s Pub Idol competition.
“I’ll also be looking for potential if they’re young,” he said.
“And I’ll be looking for something a little different. They’ve got to take the song and make it their own.”
