Get ready for intensity and challenging narratives
RETURNING to Barton's Ropery Hall after two years, Martyn Joseph may well be another guitar laden singer-songwriter, but his 30-year long career proves he still has a lot to offer his audience.
Touring in support of a new studio album Songs For The Coming Home, Martyn has come a long way since the days when Epic signed him after selling 30,000 copies of his self-financed album, An Aching And A Longing.
Since those days he has had five Top 50 UK chart hits and has toured with the likes of Art Garfunkel, Ani DiFranco, Jools Holland, Suzanne Vega, Chris De Burgh, Runrig, Celine Dion, Shirley Bassey, Joan Armatrading and Mark Cohn.
Just over a year ago, his 31st album Under Lemonade Skies was released which was enthusiastically described by Radio 2's Bob Harris as "his biggest album to date".

"Martyn has an amazing stage presence," said Mark Keable, of mtm promotions.
"You'd almost be forgiven for thinking there's more than one musician on stage.
"He presents his audience with challenging narratives and with an intensity that hits with the power of a right hook.
"His great improvisation and immediate topicality coupled with his comfortable rapport and conversation with his audiences lie right at the heart of his success.
"There may be shades of Springsteen, John Mayer, Bruce Cockburn and Dave Matthews – but he stands in his own right, built on a reputation for giving what thousands have described as the best live music experience of their lives."
Martin will be appearing at Ropery Hall tonight, starting at 8pm.
Tickets cost £15 or £17 on the door and can be booked on www.roperyhall.co.uk, by phone on 01652 660380 or in person at The Ropewalk's Craft Gallery.
