LOUTH Town made it five wins out of five in the Northern Counties East League with a 3-1 victory away at Teversal.

The result ensured the White Wolves stay second in the table behind leaders Eccleshill United on goal difference, but with a game in hand.

Although Teversal looked threatening early on, Louth responded and Paul Watts fired over the crossbar from close range before Tim Lowe volleyed just over following an excellent corner from Sam Smith.

Town were punished for these misses as Teversal caught their defence napping with a quickly taken free-kick that ended with Pearson tapping the ball home from close range after 13 minutes.

Danny Kilmore was denied the equaliser by a spectacular goal-line clearance by Pearson and Watts' follow-up shot was well saved by goalkeeper Jamie Davies.

Teversal were still looking dangerous on the break and striker Greg Tobin shot over the bar when he latched onto a ball from Luke Fisher.

The same player came even closer minutes later as a poor pass from James Archer saw Tobin clean through on goal, only to be denied by a block from keeper Craig Wherry.

Town looked a lot livelier in the second half.

Lowe sliced his shot wide as early as the third minute before Smith's free-kick was headed over the bar by Watts two minutes later.

The equaliser finally arrived 13 minutes into the second half as Kilmore and Watts combined to set up Crossley, who completely mis-kicked his shot.

The ball was cleared out as far as Lowe who hit an unstoppable 25-yard drive into the corner of the net to register his first goal for Town.

Louth had the home side on the back foot and took the lead their second half performance deserved as Andy Appleby's long throw caused havoc in the Teversal defence before eventually falling to Crossley, who stroked the ball into the net.

The game was effectively made safe for Louth with 11 minutes remaining as Watts was brought down by the hosts' keeper Davies to present Town with a penalty. Smith stepped up to coolly convert and give the visitors a two-goal advantage.
