'It's a big part of my life'
This hall is everything to the people on the Nunsthorpe. It is a second home for a lot of people – somewhere to go where they will be welcomed, can feel safe and see a friendly face.
People that have come to the centre over the last nine years have learnt a lot here. Kids who couldn't dance a step have performed on the stage at regular concerts. People have learned skills and got to know people that they wouldn't have without this hall.
When I first came here, I was quite a young mum with one child and now I have my third on the way. It is a big part of my life and it's sad to see what has happened. I've got friends here and I have no idea where we will meet now. For nine years there has been somewhere to go, seven days a week, and now that has been lost.
It is such a terrible thing to see it looking like this, all empty. I'm that upset and angry about it that I can't really put it into words. I just hope that when the church take it back, they open it for the community again. This place needs somewhere for people to go.

“Lets see now, uhm, you could try walking further afield. A park somewhere. The possibility of organising little get togethers at your pad. Take it in turns. With a bit of thought plenty of options are available. It does mean getting up and doing a bit rather than have it provided.”
