It's hi ho silver for Clayton Johnson at English Karate Federation National Kyu Grade Championship
YOUNG Clayton Johnson continued his journey on the medal trail with a silver-lined success at the English Karate Federation National Kyu Grade Championship.
The-12-year-old member of Cleethorpes' Fix 'n' Kiks club finished second in kumite (fighting) in the national showdown at Sheffield's Ponds Forge.
That success marks another encouraging performance from Johnson, who won a gold medal against older opposition on his competitive debut last summer.
Club instructor Sami Powell said: "Clayton is an enthusiastic student and always willing to learn, through training hard and dedication.

"He has more than earned his trophies and medals – well done to him!"
Johnson won his first-round bout by two points to nil. He received a bye in the second as his opponent failed to show up.
He edged a close third and then secured his spot in the final with a 2-0 triumph in round four.
Only a close 1-0 defeat in the final denied the youngster another gold medal success.
Also representing Fix 'n' Kiks in the national competition were Tom Gladding, 20, and Taylor Nicholls, 9.
