Have your say on how £1m grant is spent in Cleethorpes
"GET involved and tell us what you want."
That is the plea to Cleethorpes residents from the group tasked with deciding how a £1 million Lottery grant will be spent in the resort.

Members of the Big Local steering group want to hear your ideas for improving the community, as they prepare to draw up a ten-year plan for the area.
And they are also on the lookout for volunteers willing to help them carry out their research.

Questionnaires are about to be distributed to community centres and Cleethorpes Library, and a copy is already available online on the group's Facebook page.
As reported, the Big Lottery Fund will give the northern end of the resort £1 million to be spent on community projects in Croft Baker and Sidney Sussex wards over the next ten years as part of its Big Local project.
In addition to the £1 million, Voluntary Action North East Lincolnshire (Vanel), which is leading the project, has been given a further £20,000 to spend laying the groundwork for deciding how the money is spent.
John Mooney, community network co-ordinator for Vanel, said: "We want as many people who live in the north Cleethorpes area as possible to tell us what they would like to see.
"We are also still looking for volunteers to help us with the questionnaire process.
"We want to use this money to reinvigorate Cleethorpes and I'm hopeful that this £1 million will attract even more investment into the area."

“Negativity isn't going to get Cleethorpes anywhere - a bit of enginuity and elbow grease, and some volunteers, and we could have something to be proud of. I suggest taking a look at what other towns/cities have. Nightclubs would be good to have yes, but we need actual activity centres and things to use in the day time (and not just kiddy things like The Magical Castle), such as paintballing, zorbing, go-karting, even a trendy-but-cheap restaurant? I'm sure there's plenty that could happen with a million pounds so thinking caps are needed rather than complaints.”

“A million wont go far and could easily be wasted on ideas that won't make a blind bit of difference to tourist trade or anything else.
How about gathering a large group of contractors, painters, joinery, metalwork, builders then invite the public and business in the most visible parts, eg seafront only, to apply for a free or heavily subsided facelift? Nobody's making a fortune down there so time to give it a 'quality facelift.”

“How the hell can it cost £20,000 to sit around a table and decide how to spend some money? There must be one hell of a buffet!
And there are some ideas...
1) Put the flowers back!
2) Demolish the eyesore cowshed/Wonderland/Sunday Market
3) Replace the ancient rickety "rides" on the beach”

“How much for a bomb with just enough power to blow up the area from Park Lane to Wonderland?”
