Why do scroungers get more than me?
BENEFIT scroungers take note. This is the story of a little old man who started work at 14 and retired at 73.
From the age of 14 to 18 he worked as a butcher for £2 per week, rising to £4 for a 44-hour week, then to National Service at 18 for £1 a week. Within ten months he had passed two courses, 36p for each course. He also became a full corporal for £4.50 per week.
From National Service he returned to butchering. One firm he worked for the partnership failed, putting him out of work for 10 weeks, and he could not obtain dole as his wife worked, earning £3 per week.
He paid for his own National Insurance stamp while out of work by going to the Post Office and buying a self-employed stamp to keep his insurance stamps up to date.
He went to work at one of the factories on the Humber Bank. To earn more cash he worked as a part-time firefighter at the factory, two hours per week extra. All together he had five different jobs at once, working at the factory eight hours per day, firefighter two hours per week, TA Army six hours per week, a day at the slaughterhouse and four hours per day butchering for four days.
All this was to give his family a good standard of living. The only reason that he left a job was to earn more money or gain more experience.
Up to the age of 65 he had never been on the dole and only been off work sick twice for three weeks.
What he cannot understand is that all his working life he has had nothing from the state, sometimes paid his own insurance stamps so that there was no gaps, never drawn dole, yet the people on benefit receive more money than he receives in pension.
When he was a manager he would work anything up to 16 hours per day. He would do a week's work by the Wednesday evening.
He was the breadwinner in his family and a very proud man. The benefit scroungers cost us through taxes over £28 billion and now there is three generations that have never worked living off the state.
I think that people, male and female, who do not have a job by 18, should be put in the Forces.
It would give them discipline, it will make them better people and give them pride in themselves. The over-50s without a job? Put them to work for the council, let them work for their dole money.
The story of the little old man is true. I should know, I am the little old man.
Little Old Man, Grimsby. (Details supplied)
The Telegraph says
Little Old Man, many readers would certainly agree with your sentiments. the work ethic in a portion of society simply does not exist.

“National debt of £1.4 trillion, the largest in Britain¿s history.
The British National Party¿s solution to this problem is simple and efficient: cut expenditure on all items which do not serve British interests.
There is no reason to plunge British taxpayers into further debt to pay for:
- A £650 million annual bailout of the Greek economy;
- A £9 billion annual foreign aid budget (set to rise to £13 billion per year);
- A £13 billion per year immigration bill (as calculated by MigrationwatchUK);
- A £4 billion per year asylum swindle;
- A £5 billion per year war in Afghanistan (not to mention the £50 billion spent on the Iraq war);
- A £60.1 billion per year handout for EU membership; and
- Uncounted billions handed out to private banks, amongst many other rackets such as ¿climate change.¿
Further billions can be saved by ending the state-funded multiculturalist propaganda machines such as the anti-British Equalities and Human Rights Commission, the various ¿equality and diversity¿ schemes, failed ¿Prevent¿ strategies and what seems like an endless list of ¿ethnic¿ organisations, all of which parasite off the back of the British taxpayer.
The BNP¿s position is that all of these unnecessary expenditures must be cut before any decision is taken on cuts to public services.
It is time to put the interests of the British people first, and only the BNP has this as its central policy.”

Hope you do better than me as I joined 2 pension funds and both went down.
Tried to claim for compo but they said there was no dosh.
Gov would not help either.
Not all retirees are spongers some just got plain robbed thru bad advice.
The last gov pressed for private pensions this gov is no change just the same. I did wrong I listened to the gov. Now I have no pension.
Another reason why I would vote BNP as in their manifesto was the min wage to all pensioners.
Terrible party that BNP :( Terrible.”

“Right ! On topic. I presume the letter writer will receive small pension payments from previous employment,unless he opted out. Me? Twenty years in a bank,paying 5% of my salary into their pension fund. Will it make me rich? No. It will help to pay the bills though...As long as I do not expire before sixty.”

“David - very nice of your secretary to respond for you. I would sack her and give a bus timetable specialist her job, he could do it better and needs the experience before he retires. (I should be on the stage - sweeping it)!!!!
Give us a ring David. You should have the number.”

“To Josh and all of his aliases and David Sanderson and all of his aliases, :-(
Your ignorance knows no boundaries due to your parents ignorance, in failing to use a condom.
I therefore will not reply to the ignorant duo on this thread.
If you do not get the message by now, you truly are ignorant. :-(”
