Division One match kicks-off at 7.45pm on Thursday, December 27.

And the New Year gets underway with a bang when Cleethorpes AC hosts its big 10k road race. There have already been more than 400 entries for the event, which starts at 11.15am on Daggett Road, off Chichester Road in the resort.

Grimsby Town accounts manager Steve Wraith is bracing himself for a busy Christmas period.

The ticket office and club shop have been going crazy over the last few days, with fans clamouring to snap-up tickets and buy some Mariners-themed presents.

He said: “It all starts tomorrow night when we will have hundreds of people wearing Santa suits, hats and beards for the Wrexham game.

“I think there will be a lot dressed up in the away end at Lincoln too on Boxing Day.

“We sold out our allocation of 1,747 tickets at Lincoln without them even going on general sale.

“There will be a fantastic atmosphere at those games and the fans will hopefully cheer their side back to the top of the league.”

The Mariners also play Mansfield away on December 29 when Wraith expects Town fans to take up almost all of the 1,400 allocation. The game is not all ticket – fans can pay on the day.

Then it’s the visit of Lincoln to Blundell Park on New Year’s Day – and the Town tickets chief reckons a gate of more than 7,000 is a realistic aim.

“Our fans are great – I am expecting a nutty Christmas from the black and white army,” he added.
