SECTION B leaders Cue World were victorious in the Roy Ling Mutual Grimsby Snooker Doubles League top clash.

Cue World paid a visit to second-in-the-table West End B and went away with a 6-2 victory.

First out of the blocks were the visitors when Dave Dobbs and George Marshall won the opening two frames.

Andy Rouse and Chris Holgeth made it three before Walt Simpson and Herbie Barker put a frame on the board for the home team.

Alan Porritt and Mike Needham then shared with Neil Wherrett and Cameron Dunlop, only to see Graham Frosdick and Clive Jenkins win the last two frames for the Cue World team and give them a good 6-2 victory.

Fortunately for the Westenders, third-placed Standard A had a nightmare at Clee Bowls B when they were beaten 7-1 and slipped a further point behind.

Janett Newell, Bernard Keeble, Ralph Dale, Mick Forster, Mick Parker and Mike Barrett all won 2-0 for the Bowlers and Nigel Francis and Dave Walton shared their frames with slam-savers Tony Eglin and Jack Bradshaw, who won their frame on the final black.

Carr Lane C won 5-3 at Hainton B when Dave and Pete Cullum scored the only 2-0 after Colin Grey, Neil Batts, Gordon Peck, Gil Clarke, Geoff Ford and Jim McLachlan each won a frame.

Doubles from Terry Lloyd, Bob Young, Jamie Robinson and Ben Stowe and singles from Den and Jamie Wallis, Andy Stanley and Daz Melhuish gave Healing Men's a 6-2 at Standard C.

Picking up the frames for the bottom team were Terry Burman, Jim Litchfield, Rich Maultby and Ray Revell.

The top two teams in Section A both won 5-3 so it's as you were in the race for the title.

Westlands entertained Birds Eye and, after a single from Paul Beasley and John Paul Teanby against Dave Morley and Paul Rushby, it was 2-0s from Steve Donner, Simon Redgraves, Dave Stewart and Nige Emmerson that gave them their victory.

Scott Templeman and Anthony Jagger won the other two frames for Birds Eye.

An opening 2-0 from Mick Jones and Roy Wilson Jnr and singles from Dennis Rodgers, Loll Pots, Sid Bird, Simon Bensley, Ian Taylor and Graham Boddy gave Cromwell their victory at Stamford Homes B.

Winning the frames for the home team were the Leggetts, Lee, Peter, Glen and Den, Chris Madsen and Ben Goodman.

Blossom Way B beat Stamford Homes A by the same score at Immingham when John and Albert Potterton won the only 2-0.

The singles came from Phil Robinson, Stuart Gibb, Alex Burnett, Rodgers Santon, Myles Kennan and Mally Avenall against visitors John and Peter Dannatt, Andrew and Chris Brown, Mel Pratt and Daz Braithwaite.

The derby game at Healing Legion went in favour of the B team when Drew Winship, Chris Jennings, Gaz Wright and Colin Draper all won 2-0 and John Horne, Craig Brocklebank, Barry Pearce and Graham Young shared their frames with Gerry Howes, Andy Nutting, Pete Krofchak and Mike Crooks in a 6-2 victory.

The biggest winners in the Premier Section were leaders Clee Cons B, who won 6-2 at Cue World Hotshots.

Craig Waddingham, Dave Darwent, Jon Steel and Danny Rock were their 2-0 winners with Mike Dowling, Mark Goss, Jamie Barrett and Lee Pawson sharing with Ashley Wright, Aaron Roberts, John Leyland and Craig Roberts.

AMS (UK) drew with a six-man Hainton A when Lynn Powell, Phil Watts, Simon Appleton and Stuart Powell shared with Rob Broughton, Yan De Grouchy, Shane Newbold and Dave Bartlett.

The 2-0 winners for Hainton were Tony Lamberton and George Bartlett.

An opening 2-0 from John Hughes and Mark Stevens was cancelled out by a last board 2-0 from Keith Pulford and Norman Cochrane as Blossom Way A came back to draw at Clee Home Guard.

West End A were made to fight all the way at Clee Cons A when Craig Thomas and Jason Reynolds won 2-0 for the home team and Paul Lidgard and Jimmy Yates won a single against Steve Neul and Euan Hunter.

In the end, it was 2-0s from Mike Lee, Sandy Young, Andrew Warner and Dave Webster which gave the visitors a narrow 5-3 victory.
