And now entrepreneur and professional stilt performer Chris Sheard, 38, of Grimsby, has brought the unique hobby to the resort.

He is running his business, Acro Air, in conjunction with Kool Kartz at Meridian Point craft centre, to enable young and old alike the chance to experience jumping stilts.

Chris said: "They are not a cheap hobby – adult stilts start at £179. So we are running workshops every Sunday, costing £5 for 15 minutes.

"Anyone who has tried them will testify that 15 minutes is plenty for novices as it can be very tiring.

"It's not as easy as it looks, but we usually have people walking within ten minutes.

"We have full safety gear and are fully covered by my company's insurance policy. It can be dangerous, but so can walking down the street."

Chris has been behind various unique businesses in the area, including a See-shores Rickshaws taxi service back in 2003. Now he has teamed up with Kool Kartz owners Paul Fair and Mary Ras-Challis, of Scartho, who said that after speaking to Chris, they really wanted to offer the stilts to everyone.

Mary said: "We are just helping Chris along as he tries to get more people involved.

"There is nowhere else in the area that offers what we do. We have an ideal place for people to practise with the stilts."

Kool Kartz offers a wide range of scooters and even land-sailing sessions.
