*EAST MIDLANDS IN BLOOM** Story by Simon Faulkner Picture by Michelle Adamson 13th July 2010 The Konigswinter badge floral display, Kingsway, Cleethorpes, part of the judging route for the East Midlands in Bloom 2010 competition.
The huge circular display will depict a picture of the crown with a black background and writing, saying The Queen's Diamond Jubilee and 60 Years.
The artistic arrangement of planted flowers is the clever work of a plant nursery in Devon, which grow the flowers using a specialised computer programme and number the plant pots.
Once the picture is complete, it will deliver the flowers to Cleethorpes and arrange them like a jigsaw puzzle, using the numbers.
It will be in the raised circular bed, about 2.5m wide, in the prime spot opposite the Kingsway Hotel and organisers are now inviting local companies, people, and organisations, to sponsor the planter.
Bob Callison, chairman of Cleethorpes In Bloom, said: "It will be a great advert for your company, just as the planter will be a great advert for Cleethorpes.
"There are a lot of volunteers who work really hard to make the town look fantastic but all the flowers and equipment cost a lot of money and we need the continued support of the community to keep it looking as pristine as it does.
"This flower bed really will be impressive and anyone would be proud to have their name affiliated with it."
The planter will be the crowning jewel in the resort's floral display which it is hoped will help it to victory in the In Bloom Champion of Champions competition this year, after being named the best coastal resort in the country last year.
Sponsors will have a plaque on the front of the flower bed with their information on it during a summer packed with events.
It is hoped record numbers will visit the town, with not only the Queen's Jubilee celebration, but the scooter rally, military weekend and Olympic Torch Relay.
Mr Callsion added: "It will be a big year for Cleethorpes and we want it to look its best so that when people come for the big events, they want to come back."
Businesses can sponsor the jubilee planter but also all of the other flower beds, large sections of flower beds and other planters.
There is no set amount that will secure a sponsorship but Mr Callison is asking people to contact him with offers on 01472 693594 or 07986 297995.
