A year ago yesterday I was diagnosed with cancer.

I found a lump in my breast shortly before Christmas and went to get it checked out.

When they told me it was cancer, I was fine, it was my mother who was devastated, I just knew I had to get on with it. I went back to work in the afternoon.

I had a full mastectomy with reconstruction, chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

I had my second chemotherapy session on the Wednesday and on the Sunday I did last year's Race For Life.

I signed up because of my experience, the girls at work were putting a team together and they asked if I was up to doing it. I said yes straight away. I managed to raise £800 on my own.

My story goes to show no one is immune from the disease, getting breast cancer at my age is proof of that.

I am doing Race For Life this year, I am feeling ready for it and this year, I am going to try and run the whole way round.
