WHY on earth do we have to read, yet again, about another callous attack on an elderly and vulnerable person in North East Lincolnshire?

This time, theft – the victim trusting the criminal, who used her cover as a cleaner to sneak out the pensioner's home with a diamond ring.

And if that was not enough, this thief had the cheek to try and tell people her victim was suffering from dementia and was therefore talking nonsense.

What is going on in the minds of these selfish criminals to think that it is OK to steal from the elderly?

Well, yes they are certainly uncaring and extremely selfish.

But is there something else going on in their heads – do they simply believe that these elderly people have no use to put their money or possessions to – therefore it justifies their actions of theft?

In their warped minds, the cash or goods will be better used by them!

These people are wrong – plain and simple.

And those who build up trust or hold positions of trust before stealing are somehow worse then those rogue traders who turn up on the doorstep.

For you can assume that the former have built up a relationship with the elderly individuals.

These people have won their trust and let them into their homes on more than one occasion.

It takes a callous mind to then think they can steal from these people.

Unfortunately whatever the authorities try to do, they may well be fighting a losing battle in trying to stop such theft.

For how do you prevent this kind of thing when you have such callous, uncaring and sly individuals preying on the elderly?
