GRIMSBY RUFC Under-13s extended their unbeaten run to three games as they ran out 41-7 winners against Boston.

The young Blues scored seven tries in a hard-fought encounter at Springfield Road.

After a strong run straight from the kick-off, Josh Pearce finished off the move by touching down under the posts for the Blues. Matthew Ross added the conversion.

Grimsby continued to take the game to Boston, with strong runs from Jake Roberts and Owen Tems, and it was from one of these runs that Cobie Drinkell crossed the whitewash. Ross converted.

The Blues showed determination to not let Boston get back into the game after they scored a try though Parsons.

They chased the kick-off and, after winning turnover ball, Drinkell was found in space to score.

Drinkell then notched his third try in the corner to give Grimsby a 24-7 lead at half-time. He then made it four soon after the restart.

Grimsby's sixth try came from a scrum close to the Boston line. Joe Webster passed the ball to Alister Hinkley, who then put Drinkell through to score his fifth and final try. Ross again converted.

Boston battled on and launched a series of attacks that were halted by good defending from Blues centres Alfie Wallis and Aiden Clark, and full-back Drinkell.

In the final minutes, Phillips broke free and dived over in the corner for Grimsby's last try of the game.

Grimsby RUFC first-team visit East Retford in the Midlands 3 East (North) on Saturday. They bagged the points after a 'walkover' triumph against Amber Valley last weekend.
