Landlord returns to the Swallow Inn

Friday, November 21, 2008, 09:00

A LANDLORD is returning to the helm of a popular village pub.

David Butler has taken over the Swallow Inn – four years after he left following his last spell owning the pub in the village of Swallow, near Caistor.

As reported, the pub closed to customers at the beginning of the month, but was reopened under the temporary management of Paul Weeks on November 8.

However, today it will open permanently, under the ownership of Mr Butler.

And he is planning to offer great value for money for diners and drinkers.

Mr Butler, who also owns The Coach House, in Humberston, said: "We are offering the same deal that we do at The Coach House – two-for-one on meals, seven days a week.

"It will be great value for money because two people will be able to eat for around £10.

"It will be quality food and we are trying to use local produce wherever we can.

"The pub was previously owned by a brewery, but now I have bought it and it is a free house, meaning I can lower the prices of food and drink, but still provide great quality."

Mr Butler owned the pub for four years until 2004, but is looking forward to returning to the village where he was once a resident.

He said: "I am really excited. It will be hard work running two pubs, but really enjoyable.

"We know we will be supported by all the locals. This is giving the ownership of the pub back to the village.

"It will be a typical village pub, but one that sells high quality food too."

Food will be served between 11.30am and 9.30pm every day, with Christmas bookings still being taken.
