The Ram Raid does double

Friday, November 21, 2008, 09:00

THE RAM Raid completed a Battle of the Bands double with victory in last night's final of the competition held at Grimsby's Lloyds No 1 Bar.

Their success over fellow finalists The Lomacs and The Bad Apples, added to the triumph they had at Parkway Cinema's Battle of the Bands in October.

The rock-and-roll threesome wowed the crowd by smashing up their guitars – they have recently acquired new ones – and delivered an electric set to steal the show.

All three bands played for 45 minutes, with sets featuring their greatest tracks.

But it was local lads The Ram Raid – made up of Jim 'The Show' Jackson (19), his brother Sean (21) and Kris Edwards (24) – who left with the £500 prize and a trophy, courtesy of organisers Stone Monkey Productions.

Despite getting used to the winning feeling, the trio remained shocked to win again.

Jim said: "I can't believe it. Everybody is coming up to us and it is a bit crazy!"

Organiser Chris Johnson of Stone Monkey Productions felt the Ram Raid were well deserved winners.

He said: "All three were brilliant and can go a long way. They have a bright future, they can be the band of 2008."
